                                               Job Description

                       DIRECTOR OF DAY AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

 

 

JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Day and Community Programs ensures that all program development and delivery aspects are consistent with The Arc of Southwest Georgia's mission. The Executive Director supervises him/her. He/she oversees the Adult Day Center and Community Integration Programs. He/she works closely with other program directors to ensure all individuals served have meaningful activities and are supported and included within their community.

Exempt Position.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Directly supervises the Adult Day Center and Community Access staff.
Responsible for the professional development of assigned staff.
Attends community and in-house meetings that pertain to the individual programs when required.
Participates in all CARF Accreditation requirements that involve the Day Center.
Participates in Management Team Meetings.
Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising all staff of the Day Center and Community Access Individuals.
Coordinates with the Lead Direct Support Professional and Activity Coordinator to develop activities and training.
Oversees and completes billing/ payroll for Day and Community Programs
Conducts annual evaluations of staff.
Attends all Individual Service Plan meetings for additional support.
Collaborates with Program Directors, Support Coordinators, and Families for modifications and/or updates needed on services, plans, and supports for the person served.
Ensures all health care plans, medication orders, and staff training are within compliance.
Completes quarterly Developmentally Disabled Professional reviews on Day Center persons served.
Monitors programs and reports to the Executive Director on functions and potential problems.
Enhances current programs by conducting or arranging periodic program evaluations that identify issues and practices that will improve service quality.
Develops action plans in conjunction with staff to meet defined needs.
Responsible for promoting and protecting individual's rights, especially the right to freely make and express preferences in choices regarding their daily living and care, as long as such rights/choices are not detrimental to the consumers' wellbeing.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in administration and/or field related to rehabilitation, special education, or education. Four years' experience working with adults in rehabilitation/ persons with disabilities. One-year experience in administration.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
He/She must have knowledge of the agency's Mission and Vision; must have knowledge of the agency's programs and services and must have the ability to meet deadlines as they arise and be able to prioritize duties. He/She must be knowledgeable of the accreditation process and how it affects the agency. Must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills. Must have excellent work habits including being results oriented and willing to get the job done. Able to multi-task with the ability to establish priorities and organize efficiently.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

The environment will be that of the typical office atmosphere. Extensive travel and non-traditional hours are required as needed.
